What is Outdoor First Aid?

Outdoor First Aid is a specialist qualification that prepares leaders, instructors and supervisors to manage medical emergencies in remote, rural and outdoor environments where emergency services may be significantly delayed or inaccessible.

Delivered by Paul Chandler — who has extensive real-world Search & Rescue operational experience in challenging terrain — this course goes beyond classroom first aid to cover improvised techniques, patient assessment in the field, and decision-making under pressure when help is far away.

The qualification is recognised by Mountain Training UK and meets the first aid requirements for Mountain Leader, Hill & Moorland Leader, Climbing Wall Instructor, Duke of Edinburgh Award supervisor and similar outdoor leader qualifications.
